Sat, 8/30: Handbuilt Berry Colanders w/Karen Pride | 2pm-6pm | $45

Explore the fundamentals of handbuilding with clay while crafting a beautiful and functional colander for washing berries and other foods. 

Karen Pride is a ceramist, photographer and chef living in Portland, OR. She has been working with clay for 9 years and loves creating functional pottery that elevates the experience of dining and cooking. Karen makes pottery in her backyard studio and sells her work through her website.

Sat, 9/6: Handmade Brushes: Crafting Tools for Unique Mark Making w/Juliana DeFrance | 2pm-5pm | $55

Craft expressive, functional artist brushes using horsehair, wool, and found materials. 

Juliana DeFrance is a multidisciplinary artist working across watercolor, oil painting, and ceramics for over 40 years. Born in San Francisco and raised in Marin County and the East Bay, her creative voice is deeply rooted in the textures, colors, and atmosphere of coastal living in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest.

Sat/Sun, 9/20 & 9/21: Potted Cactuses w/Marsha Mack | 2pm-6pm | $85

Create tabletop potted cactus, succulent, and plant sculptures. 

Marsha Mack is the Assistant Director and Curator of Galleries & Exhibitions at the Pacific Northwest College of Art at Willamette University. She holds an MFA in Ceramics and a Certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies from Syracuse University, and a BFA from San Francisco State University. Formerly, she directed Fresh A.I.R. Gallery and SEEN Studios, was Associate Director at David B. Smith Gallery, and taught ceramics at several institutions. As a ceramic and installation artist, she has exhibited with the Columbus Museum of Art, MCA Denver, Black Cube, and more. She received the 2023 Visual Arts Fellowship from GCAC and CMA, and is a 2024 GLEAN Artist in Residence.

Learning from a visiting artist is more than picking up a new technique, it’s a powerful exchange of ideas, stories, and creative energy.
